The Minnesota Timberwolves took a commanding 1-0 lead in their Western Conference Semifinals series against the Denver Nuggets with a 106-99 victory in Game 1 on May 4, 2024. Anthony Edwards led the Wolves with 27 points, while Nikola Jokic had 22 points and 15 rebounds for the Nuggets.

The Timberwolves controlled the game from the start, jumping out to a 10-point lead in the first quarter. They maintained that lead throughout the game, never trailing the Nuggets. Edwards was aggressive from the opening tip, scoring 15 points in the first half. Karl-Anthony Towns added 22 points and 12 rebounds for Minnesota.

The Nuggets struggled to find their rhythm offensively, shooting just 40.4% from the field. Jokic was the only Nugget to score in double figures, as Jamal Murray and Aaron Gordon combined for just 11 points.

Game 2 of the series will be played in Denver on May 6. The Nuggets will need to find a way to slow down Edwards and the Timberwolves' offense if they want to tie the series.
