University of Southern California Sets New Record for Applications
Admissions Office Reports Significant Increase for 2023-2024 Academic Year
80,808 Applications Received, with 12% Acceptance Rate
The University of Southern California (USC) has announced that it has received a record-breaking number of applications for the 2023-2024 academic year. In total, 80,808 prospective students applied to the university, a significant increase from previous years. The admissions office reports that the overall acceptance rate for incoming freshmen is 12%, making it one of the most selective universities in the nation.
Of the 80,94 admitted students, 3,633 are anticipated to enroll at USC. The university attributes the increase in applications to its strong academic reputation and diverse student body. USC is known for its programs in engineering, business, and the arts, and it has consistently ranked among the top universities in the United States.
The university also noted that half of the admitted students who submitted test scores met or exceeded the 75th percentile on the SAT or ACT. This suggests that USC is increasingly attracting high-achieving students from across the country and around the world.
In addition to the record number of applications, USC also reported a historic number of applicants for its Class of 2027. The university received 80,790 applications for that class and admitted 9,277 students, with an acceptance rate of just 9.9%. This marks the highest number of applications and lowest acceptance rate in USC's history.
